Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Prosperity Marketing LLC ("we") collects, uses, and shares information when you use HometownSquares.

1. What We Collect

From organizers: name, email, and login credentials (managed by our authentication provider, Clerk); pool details you provide (team names, images, cause descriptions, payment handles you choose to display publicly); organization details; and, for paid plans, billing information processed by Stripe (we receive transaction records but never your full card number).

From participants: the name and email you enter when claiming a square, which squares you claimed, and whether the organizer marked them paid. Your name appears on the public pool page in shortened form (first name and last initial). Your email is visible to the pool's organizer.

Automatically: basic technical data such as IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and cookies (see our Cookie Policy). We use privacy-respecting analytics to understand aggregate site usage.

From newsletter signups: your email address and your consent record.

2. How We Use Information

To operate the Service (creating pools, claiming squares, drawing numbers, calculating winners, sending notifications); to process plan purchases; to provide support; to send newsletters you opted into; to maintain security and prevent abuse; to comply with law; and to produce anonymized, aggregate statistics (e.g., total funds organizers reported raising).

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own advertising.

3. Who We Share It With

• Organizers of pools you join see your name, email, squares, and payment status.
• Service providers who process data on our behalf: Clerk (authentication), Neon (database), Vercel (hosting), Resend (email delivery), and Stripe (payments). Each receives only what it needs to perform its function.
• Legal: we may disclose information when required by law or to protect rights, safety, or the integrity of the Service.
• Business transfers: if Prosperity Marketing LLC is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may transfer as part of that transaction, subject to this Policy.

4. Emails

Transactional emails (claim confirmations, numbers-drawn notices, winner notifications, receipts) are part of the Service and are sent to participants and organizers as needed. Marketing emails are sent only with your consent and always include an unsubscribe link.

5. Retention

We keep pool data so organizers and communities can reference past fundraisers. Participants may request removal of their name and email from past pools (see Your Choices). Billing records are retained as required by tax law. Backups are purged on a rolling basis.

6. Your Choices

• Unsubscribe from marketing at any time via the link in any newsletter.
• Organizers can edit or delete their pools and account information from the dashboard.
• Anyone may email support [at] hometownsquares [dot] com to request access to, correction of, or deletion of their personal information. We will verify your request (typically by confirming control of the email address on file) and respond within 30 days. Note that deleting a claimed square's name after a pool is complete may be reflected as "Removed participant" to preserve the pool's historical record.

7. Security

We use industry-standard safeguards, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), managed authentication, and access controls. No system is perfectly secure; please use a strong, unique password.

8. Children

The Service is for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18 (and never from children under 13). If you believe a minor has provided us information, contact support [at] hometownsquares [dot] com and we will delete it.

10. Changes

We will post any changes here and update the effective date; material changes will be highlighted on the site or emailed to account holders.
